True Blue Women's Basketball Experience
The True Blue Women’s Basketball Experience project has ended. Please click here to support the team.
Hello from the beautiful campus of the University of New Haven. As I begin my third season leading the New Haven women’s basketball program, I have had the honor of witnessing the growth of our team in the classroom, on the court, and in the community. Being intentional about what we do and how we do things is an emphasis of New Haven Women’s Basketball. Everything we do and who we are will be guided by the core values of our program – Great Teammate, Gratitude, Honor, Commitment, Loyalty, and Excellence.
In the classroom, our program has consistently earned a team GPA of 3.1 or higher in each semester since my arrival in July, 2015. Excellence and competing in the classroom is one of our paramount goals that will help our young women succeed in the working world after graduation. On the court, we have used the lessons learned from last season to fuel our journey in preparation for the 2017-18 season. We have really challenged our players with a rigorous training schedule that has stretched our student-athletes to move outside of their comfort zones. With our biggest class now having been in our system for a solid two years, you can expect to see an enhanced style of play. Off the court, we continue to give back to the West Haven/New Haven community with a goal of surpassing 500 total hours of community service as a team this year.
We would like to provide our women’s basketball student-athletes with an enhanced experience. Not only do we want to purchase gear and pay for sessions within our Empowerment Series, but we would like to give our team an opportunity to compete in an exempt tournament outside of our region over the Thanksgiving holiday in 2018. During this trip, our team will also participate in a community service event as well. Thus, we need your help to reach our goal of raising $10,000 that will go towards airfare, hotels, meals, and other transportation expenses.
I will never ask of others what I wouldn’t do myself. Therefore, I am committed to matching up to $1,200 of donations received during our fundraising campaign, October 15-November 29. Help us not only create lasting memories for our staff and student-athletes, but also enable us to build stronger bonds with one another outside of basketball that will last a lifetime.
